Our Locations

Arena Health & Fitness UK is proud to be an independent, locally run fitness community with two gyms: one in the heart of Newark-upon-Trent and a second fitness centre in Collingham.

Unlike big chain gyms, we offer a personal touch. Our focus is on providing the very best equipment, expert support, and a positive environment where you can feel comfortable working towards your own goals at your own pace.​ We believe fitness should be inclusive and accessible - not intimidating.

Our Equipment

Our Newark and Collingham gyms are equipped with a full range of cardiovascular machines such as treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, and bikes. We also have a large selection of resistance equipment, and free weights, including multiple bench presses, a lifting platform, squat racks, and dumbbells up to 50kg.

We also offer a dedicated functional training zone, complete with a prowler track, battle ropes, kettlebells, farmer’s walk handles, and more. The space features a versatile training rig fitted with punch bags, TRX suspension, cable stations, and monkey bars - everything you need for strength, conditioning, and functional fitness.

Martin Clurow - Owner & Personal Trainer 

Having worked in the fitness industry since the day he left school, Martin now has over 15 years of experience. Starting out as a Fitness Instructor in a busy leisure centre gym, he went on to complete his Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification to become a self-employed PT and now runs his own gym, Arena Health and Fitness UK.

“I absolutely love my job! I feel very lucky to wake up every morning and look forward to going to work. From being employed, self-employed, running classes, personal training and running my own gym I feel I've experienced loads that the fitness industry has to offer. I get a real buzz from helping people and seeing them achieve or exceed their goals. It's such a rewarding career.” 

Martin isn't one for sitting back or slowing down and still has further aspirations. 

“I'm ambitious and very excited about progressing the gym further. We have lots of ideas and plans of how we want to grow and develop the business. There's no plans to sit still - moving premises in 2019 w
as just the start of a new chapter!
I also look forward to expanding my personal training business, The Fitness Mentor, too. I continue to educate myself and increase my knowledge which in turn benefits my clients.”

Graham Curson - Owner & Personal Trainer

Having completed 17 years in the military service, Graham decided to begin a career in the Fitness Industry. He qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer in 2012, and has since gone on to complete further qualifications to better himself including Pre and Post-Natal Exercise, Kettles, TRX, Bootcamp, Circuits and Boxercise. He completed the London Marathon in April 2016, and has taken part in many OCR’s (Obstacle Course Races) including Tough Mudder and Spartan Race.

With Graham’s vast experience, you can be assured of a high level of training using a mixture of old and new techniques to help you achieve your aims or goals whatever they maybe. All clients are treated individually and receive tailored training and nutritional plans specific to their requirements.

Hayley Town - Personal Trainer

With a lifelong passion for exercise, Hayley decided to become a qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and hasn’t looked back. With a busy PT schedule plus teaching several weekly group exercise classes, she is enjoying sharing her vast knowledge with her clients to give them a happier, healthier lifestyle.

“I wanted to work in the fitness industry as exercise has always been a part of my life since a young age. I have always been into sports such as tennis, badminton, netball, and running, and I currently play for a local netball team which is a great way to keep fit, have fun and socialise. The PT course I completed has given me great knowledge and understanding of the human body and the amazing positive effects exercise has on the body and the mind.”


Hayley designs exercise programmes and nutrition plans that are specific to each individual, to ensure you get the most from your training. She offers one to one PT sessions as well as joint sessions for those of you wanting to work out with a friend.

Kirsty (The Relatable PT) - Personal Trainer

 

I’m a proud mum of two, and my journey into fitness has been far from straightforward. I wasn’t always into exercise. I spent years overweight, lacking confidence, and struggling with my health. I know how intimidating gyms can feel and how hard it is to take that first step. Through consistency and determination, I lost over 9 stone, built strength I never imagined, and discovered a love for fitness that changed my life. More importantly, I gained energy, confidence, and belief in myself.


That experience inspired me to become a PT. I specialise in helping people who feel nervous, stuck, or unsure where to start. My coaching is about empathy, accountability, and real, sustainable progress that fits around your busy lives. So if you’re looking for a PT who gets it who understands the struggles and juggles because she’s lived them I’d love to help. I specialise in weight and fat loss, weight training & muscle building.
I absolutely love the gym, sports and everything exercise. I want to help women of all ages & abilities to gain knowledge and confidence. Helping them to live a happy, healthy lifestyle with no restrictions and no fad diets.

Jack Simmons - Personal Trainer 
My journey into personal training started many years ago from a genuine love for health, fitness, and seeing what the human body is capable of. Over the years, I’ve seen how movement, strength, and discipline can completely transform someone’s life, not just physically, but mentally too. My goal as a trainer is to help people live healthier, happier lives by unlocking their true potential.

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone realise what they can achieve, take on new challenges, and surpass their own expectations. That feeling is absolutely priceless. I’ve always been involved in the health and fitness world, and I honestly don’t see what I do as work, it’s a passion. I believe in keeping things simple; fitness doesn’t have to be complicated. With so many fad diets and viral fitness trends out there, people often lose sight of what really matters. For me, it all comes down to consistency and discipline, get that right, and the rest will take care of itself.

Abigail - Personal Trainer
Hi, I’m Abigail and I am a certified Personal Trainer and professional Dancer. 

Coming from the dance industry I have seen a lot of unhealthy relationships with both food and exercise so my goal it to help people avoid this! 

My method of training is aiding clients in achieving their fitness goals, whatever that may be, whilst keeping the process enjoyable and non-restrictive. For me, the mental benefits of exercise are just as important as the physical.

I work with people of all ages and abilities; whether you are a regular gym goer and need someone to help you reach a specific goal or if you're new to exercise and need someone to boost your confidence! Let's work together to create a lifestyle you love.

Lauren Loftus - Personal Trainer

 

Lauren has 4 years of experience as a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Lauren specialises in both strength and body weight training.

 

Her goal? To help sculpt the body you want and creating a positive/realistic mindset with fitness and nutrition by still doing the things we enjoy. Lauren has many years of experience within weight/strength training but over the past couple years she has been focusing much more on body weight training especially within callisthenics. 


Lauren wants to show people how to make fitness not just a hobby but a way of life and have some fun whilst doing it!

Jake - Personal Trainer (At Collingham)

 

With over 10 years of coaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of coaching 1,000+ people worldwide through life-changing transformations. I’ve also hosted seminars, guided client photoshoots, and supported individuals at every stage of their fitness journey.

 

My coaching style is supportive, motivating, and empathetic. I take the time to understand each client’s goals on a deeper level, not just “I want to lose 2 stone,” but why that goal matters. From there, I build flexible nutrition plans and progressive training sessions that fit real life, not the other way around.

 

Clients often say they make progress quickly, build better habits, and see changes not only physically but mentally too. I believe the most important part of anyone’s transformation is their mindset, and I’m here to help you strengthen that just as much as your body. I genuinely care about helping people succeed and making sure we have a good laugh along the way!

Nutrition Coaching In Newark and Collingham

Food is your fuel. Whether your goal is weight management, building muscle, or improving overall wellbeing, our coaches provide personalised guidance to help you fuel your body and achieve lasting results.

Fitness Classes In Newark and Collingham

Free to members, we offer a variety of fitness classes throughout the week, from Circuits classes, to Pilates, Yoga, Legs, Bums, and Tums, and many others. Non-members can also book classes for a small fee.

Hyrox Training In Newark

Our Newark gym is Hyrox affiliated, and our expert Hyrox trainers offer classes throughout the week, as well as personalised support if you need it. It's the perfect place to get prepped for the competition!

At Newark, we have an in-house physiotherapist, making appointments much more convenient.
