Arena Health & Fitness UK is an independent fitness and weight training gym based in Newark-upon-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
With a fully equipped gym plus highly qualified staff, we are more than able to assist you achieve your goals. We pride ourselves on our friendly and welcoming environment, which caters for all ages and abilities.
The gym is equipped with a wide variety of cardiovascular and resistance machines plus a large selection of free weights including; multiple bench presses, lifting platform, squat rack and DB's up to 50kg.
We also have a functional area that includes a prowler track, battle ropes, kettlebells, farmer's walk handles and more, plus a training rig that has punch bags, TRX, cables and monkey bars to name a few!

Martin Clurow - Owner & Personal Trainer
Having worked in the fitness industry since the day he left school, Martin now has over 15 years of experience. Starting out as a Fitness Instructor in a busy leisure centre gym, he went on to complete his Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification to become a self-employed PT and now runs his own gym, Arena Health and Fitness UK.
“I absolutely love my job! I feel very lucky to wake up every morning and look forward to going to work. From being employed, self-employed, running classes, personal training and running my own gym I feel I've experienced loads that the fitness industry has to offer. I get a real buzz from helping people and seeing them achieve or exceed their goals. It's such a rewarding career.”
Martin isn't one for sitting back or slowing down and still has further aspirations.
“I'm ambitious and very excited about progressing the gym further. We have lots of ideas and plans of how we want to grow and develop the business. There's no plans to sit still - moving premises in 2019 was just the start of a new chapter!

Graham Curson - Owner & Personal Trainer
Having completed 17 years in the military service, Graham decided to begin a career in the Fitness Industry. He qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer in 2012, and has since gone on to complete further qualifications to better himself including Pre and Post-Natal Exercise, Kettles, TRX, Bootcamp, Circuits and Boxercise. He completed the London Marathon in April 2016, and has taken part in many OCR’s (Obstacle Course Races) including Tough Mudder and Spartan Race.
With Graham’s vast experience, you can be assured of a high level of training using a mixture of old and new techniques to help you achieve your aims or goals whatever they maybe. All clients are treated individually and receive tailored training and nutritional plans specific to their requirements.

Hayley Town - Personal Trainer
With a lifelong passion for exercise, Hayley decided to become a qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and hasn’t looked back. With a busy PT schedule plus teaching several weekly group exercise classes, she is enjoying sharing her vast knowledge with her clients to give them a happier, healthier lifestyle.
“I wanted to work in the fitness industry as exercise has always been a part of my life since a young age. I have always been into sports such as tennis, badminton, netball, and running, and I currently play for a local netball team which is a great way to keep fit, have fun and socialise. The PT course I completed has given me great knowledge and understanding of the human body and the amazing positive effects exercise has on the body and the mind.”
Hayley designs exercise programmes and nutrition plans that are specific to each individual, to ensure you get the most from your training. She offers one to one PT sessions as well as joint sessions for those of you wanting to work out with a friend.
Caroline Barthorpe - Personal Trainer
In addition to my personal training qualification I also hold qualifications in kettlebell training and circuit training. I pride myself on delivering a high level of service to all my clients and strive to exceed their expectations.
My love of training is what drew me in to become a personal trainer. Since then my passion for helping others has taken over. I enjoy the challenge and unique circumstances that each individual client presents and as a coach there’s no better feeling than seeing your clients achieving and exceeding what they set out to. I want to educate my clients to give them the tools and confidence to train both effectively and successfully.
Client health is at the forefront of all my sessions. I consider clients as a whole and alongside their physical goals I look to improve body functionality, posture and flexibility. To truly get the best from your body the integration of all of these factors is important.
I believe in being a role model for my clients and practicing what I preach. I’m always setting myself new goals and challenges to ensure I’m constantly developing and improving both physically and professionally as a coach. In my spare time I’m a successful bikini fitness competitor, accumulating a number of trophy placings and placing top 3 at the British finals. My experience on the competition scene has taught me so much about nutrition, dietary adjustments and really training effectively to get the absolute most from every single session.

Colette Gough - Personal Trainer
As a mother of five girls I understand how hard it can be to stay in shape whilst balancing a busy lifestyle but, with the right nutrition, training plan and motivation it's all possible. Whether your goal is to lose fat, build muscle or just be healthier I have the knowledge and personal experience to help.
I have always enjoyed sports and being active and getting back into fitness has given me more energy and a new lease of life. I am always setting myself new goals and last year I achieved my goal to compete in a fitness model competition. This has given me more confidence in my personal training and new goals to work towards. My aim is to share with others all that I have learnt and inspire them on their own fitness journey.

Liam Moran - Personal Trainer
I started getting into fitness and the gym when I was a first-year scholar at Boston United FC. Playing against older, more physical players made me realise I needed to use the gym to improve my physical stature. I now live and breathe health and fitness after stepping away from football and focusing on weight training. Having studied at University I achieved a BSc Hons degree in Exercise, Nutrition and Health.
Being in the gym is my passion and that has transferred into helping others realise what they enjoy about the gym in order to change their life and become a healthier happier person.

Sianne Robinson - Sports Massage Therapist / Pregnancy Massage
As a sports massage therapist I offer deep tissue massage and pregnancy massage. I have over 10 years's experience and absolutely love what I do.
Clients range from professional athletes to desk or manual job workers or those who experience common, day to day postural aches and pains.
I offer a full consultation and assessment and once you've had the treatment you will discover the fantastic benefits that a deep tissue massage can have.
In addition, I also have qualifications in personal training and a degree in nutrition, so I utilise all of these skills to help my clients. I offer my clients exercise prescription as part of their rehabilitation programme after treatment where necessary.
I promote a preventative approach to clients so maintenance treatment is always advised to maintain full mobility and wellness long term.
